School timetable generator — online, free, and clash-free on the mandatory rules
Updated on .
No more weeks in Excel hoping you didn't double-book a teacher. Enter your classes, teachers and rules — Skedavo's AI understands what you need, and a real optimization engine builds the timetable with no teacher, class or room clashes on the mandatory rules. If the rules can't all fit together, it shows which lessons were left out and why.

What is a school timetable generator?
A school timetable generator is software that builds the school's class schedule automatically, matching teachers, classes, rooms and teaching rules. Skedavo's is online and free for up to 15 classes: the AI understands rules written in plain language, and an optimization engine (solver) builds the timetable with no clash on the mandatory rules, clearing those clashes in seconds (see how we measured it). When the rules can't all fit together, it shows what was left out and why.
How the timetable generator works
Enter the basics — or let the AI do it
Teachers, subjects, classes, rooms and periods. Type them in, or attach an Excel/CSV spreadsheet (or even a photo of your current schedule board) and Sky, Skedavo's AI, enters everything for you. There is also a ready-made sample school, one click away, to try it out.
State the rules in plain language
“Ms. Ana mornings only”, “PE in the gym”, “no more than 2 Math periods a day”. The AI turns each sentence into an engine constraint — no complicated menus.
Click Generate — done
The optimization engine checks 34 pedagogical rules and delivers the timetable with no teacher, class or room clash on the mandatory rules. If a lesson doesn't fit, it shows up as left out, with the reason. Adjust anything you like (drag and drop) and generate again as many times as you need. Export to PDF or Excel.
What the generator takes into account
🗓️ Teacher availability
Time windows by day and period: “can't”, “would rather not”, “prefers”. Ideal for part-time teachers and teachers who work at more than one school.
🔗 Double periods
Subjects that need back-to-back blocks are kept together in the schedule automatically.
🚪 Specialty rooms
Lab, gym, computer room: the lesson lands in the right room, within its capacity.
🕳️ No gaps
Minimizes free periods in the middle of the day for teachers and, with even more weight, for classes.
🌗 Shifts and daily load
A morning class stays in the morning, with a daily lesson limit and a balanced spread across the week.
🧠 Conflicts explained
If something doesn't add up, Skedavo shows exactly which rule is too tight — instead of a broken timetable with no explanation.

Who it's for
Coordinators and principals
Who lose days at the start of every school year building and rebuilding the schedule — and redoing everything when a teacher's availability changes.
Small and mid-sized private schools
Middle and high school (grades 6–12), where the timetable gets hardest: shared teachers, specialty rooms, double periods.
Administrators and school owners
Who want the whole school in one place: after the timetable, Skedavo handles enrollment, grades, attendance, announcements and tuition.
Frequently asked questions
Is the timetable generator really free?
Yes. The Free plan lets you set up and generate the full timetable for up to 15 classes, with no credit card and no time limit. Larger schools use the paid plans, from R$ 49,90/month — see pricing.
How does the generator prevent clashes?
The timetable is built by a mathematical optimization engine (solver) with 34 pedagogical rules. On the mandatory rules there are no clashes: a teacher, a class and a room are never in two places at once. When the rules can't all fit together, the timetable shows which lessons were left out and why. How it works, rule by rule →
Do I need to install anything?
No. It is 100% online — it works in the browser on a computer or phone, and the whole team works on the same data.
How long does it take?
Clashes on the mandatory rules are gone in seconds: in our test, with 40 to 80 classes, in 0.9 to 2.4 s (4 to 6 s on the first run). Then the engine refines preferences up to the time limit, which grows with the number of lessons: at least 8 s; 69 to 120 s for the test schools. See the method and the test's limits →
Can I import my data from a spreadsheet?
Yes — Sky (Skedavo's AI) reads Excel/CSV and even a photo of the schedule board and enters everything for you.
Is my data safe?
Each school is isolated from the others and, in the documents the system generates, the AI never receives student names (pseudonymization) — the exception is a file the school itself attaches for import, which goes as is. We operate under Brazil's data protection law (LGPD) — details in our Privacy Policy (in Portuguese).

Three different problems, each with its own guide (in Portuguese): timetable clashes (a teacher, room or class in two places at once), teaching load and the one-third planning time that Brazilian law sets for public-school teachers, and the Excel timetable, which stalls as the school grows.
